Fun Summer Project: Movie Director Kids

This is a project I have been meaning to do with my kids for quite a while.

MOVIE DIRECTOR KIDS

Here's is what I envision:

  1. Teach them how to use a web cam.
  2. Help them choose an object to star in the films: action figure, stuffed animal, plastic dinosaurs, etc.
  3. Help them come up with a simple story line: super hero saving innocent people, time travel, detective series...
  4. Coach them on keep each "take" nice and short, best day to film, etc.
  5. Find an app or online program to splice together the weekly films.
  6. Teach them how to post and share on You Tube or some other publishing space.
This fun summer project will help inspire your budding movie directors, lighting and sound geniuses, and all of those talented actors and singers out there!  Plus, so many lessons can be built into the nuts and bolts behind the scenes!!

Have a great summer.

What To Wear In Your 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s

I admit it...I tend to dress a bit too young for my age.  I've always loved the fashion trends.  It is a secret addiction.  I even downsized my shoe collection to 60 pairs when I moved.  Do I wear them all?  No.  But I love them all.

I need a little help!  I don't want to look 45 because I certainly don't feel that age.  But my body has definitely changed and I want to clothes to help me embrace those changes!!

Here is a handy guide from More.com to lead us to our best fashion self in our 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s.

10 Questions To Ask Your Mother

For years I volunteered at assisted living communities, nursing homes, and to help the aging population capture bits of their past to share with their loved ones.  Think about all the amazing and entertaining stories that are lost simply because they are forgotten and never passed on.  Families have stacks and stacks of black and white photos of people, places, and events that are unidentified and unknown.  How do we uncover some of these gems?  Just ask!

I love this simple list of QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR MOTHER.  Starting with "#1: Outside of family members, who inspires you most?"

Health Hazards of Sitting

More reasons to get that body in motion! If you sit behind a desk at your job be sure to get up and hand deliver some information instead of emailing the person in the cubicle next to you.  Sitting can cause neck strain, organ damage, and disk damage. Check out all of these issues caused from sitting posted by The Washington Post...and see ways to counter the damage.

Lights for Life - help kids with cancer

 Lights for Life
My sweet little niece just turned 3 in October.  The entire family gathered for this very important birthday.  You see, our angel Sophie was diagnosed last Thanksgiving with a brain tumor.  If you would like to read more details you can read her parents beautifully written BLOG HERE.  She has been through a lot.

She is still struggling and the doctors have said she is now terminal.  Her parents are desperately seeking trials with new treatments with the hopes of simply stopping the new growth of the tumor.

If you would like to help KIDS FIGHT CANCER I stumbled upon a very simple way anyone can help.  Its called LIGHTS FOR LIFE.  You find a donation center and take all those pesky string of lights that have stopped working.  READ MORE ABOUT LIGHTS FOR LIFE HERE.  We appreciate your being willing to help in this simple yet important way.  Every little thing can help.
